“My entire career has been focused on doing good in the world, through reporting the news, public service or advocacy work. Through coaching, I strive to help my clients do good in the world, as well.”

Alan Heymann is an executive coach, facilitator, speaker and author who helps leaders grow into their roles with confidence. He works with professionals across corporate, nonprofit and public sectors in 32 countries on four continents, bringing practical coaching that strengthens communication, resilience and leadership presence. Alan serves on the faculty of Georgetown University's highly regarded Executive Certificate in Leadership Coaching Program, of which he is also a graduate.

In his career, Alan has led complex teams from two to more than one hundred in highly visible organizations, bringing firsthand leadership experience to his work. Formerly a communications executive and policy strategist in major nonprofits and government agencies, Alan became a coach and facilitator inspired by his own transformational experience. He enjoys helping leaders who identify as introverts bring their natural strengths to the forefront of their leadership.

As a coach, Alan works with executives in government, nonprofits, communications, higher education, and the legal field. He specializes in leadership presence and presentation skills, strategic thinking, delegation and time management. His clients find it immensely helpful that Alan understands these challenges because of his own professional experience, and they appreciate that he understands the nuances of their sectors. His calm, reassuring manner and warm presence, along with decades of active listening practice, help leaders create space for the growth they need to be most effective.

Alan is a facilitator of the Nebo Leadership Academy's Leadership Foundations program. Participants in Alan's programs appreciate that he provides tools to give and receive feedback, delegate effectively and build trust, agroup learning approach that mirrors Nebo’s emphasis on practice, reflection and real-world application, and an inclusive presence that values quieter leadership styles and creates space for voices that might otherwise go unheard.

Alan is the author of “Don’t Just Have the Soup: 52 Analogies for Leadership, Coaching and Life.” He specializes in coaching fellow introverts, helping them discover their superpowers in extroverted leadership environments.

Alan is passionate about working with leaders who want to tap into their creativity through words and images to inspire positive change in society. He is an expert at coaching through transitions — such as the transition from individual contributor to leader, the transition into a larger and more complex role, or the transition into a different career.
