Gretchen is a weaver, a leader, and catalyst for change. She values working with individuals, organizations and communities as they explore the stories that they are living in and envision the stories they want to live into. As a “story catcher” who is holding space, she knows the power that presence brings, in service to one’s finding their way to inner guidance.

Experience

As a process consultant and facilitator, Gretchen offers strategic and supportive guidance to leaders and teams, accelerating engagement in service to enhanced communications, reduced conflict and achieving desired outcomes. She has the methodologies and experience to face the whole challenge honestly and when there are too many pieces to hold, she’ll get things organized and clear for you, bringing both structured support and practical wisdom to the work. She believes the essential skills of facilitation are strong design, a repertoire of methods, deep listening, and authentic communication. Facilitation is her calling and craft.

As an organization/leadership development consultant and executive coach, she has more than 35 years’ experience working with entrepreneurs, family businesses, as well as corporate, community, governmental, and non-profit organizations. These clients include Worldgate LLC, Fannie Mae, Bon Secours, Penn Medicine, Viacom, Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Calvert Investments, Friends of the San Juans, The Port of Friday Harbor, Mullis Community Senior Center and Western Governors University.

Personal

  • Gretchen has lived in the San Juan Islands for more than 35 years, hosting retreats and gatherings that weave the beauty and wonder of the Pacific Northwest into transformational experiences.
  • She has been a board leader, and faculty, with Leadership San Juan Islands since 2004.
  • Married to her Anglo-Irish husband, Paul King, Gretchen is the mother of three adults and “G.G.” to five fabulous grand-girls. They travel between the US and the UK for family and work.
