In the Summer of 2021, Nebo made it official: the company moved out of its comfortable Washington D.C. office and launched its innovative next chapter as a virtual, geographically distributed organization. By August, the company’s 16 employees worked from 10 different states or districts, multiple U.S. time zones, and two different countries.
As the year 2021 comes to an end, many people will use the metaphorical “turning of the page” as an opportunity to celebrate the finale of another challenging and special year.
In early 2020, I was a mother to a toddler, a PhD student, and full-time employee. On March 11, 2020, everything changed. The pandemic sent us all home, and suddenly, my three roles—which had been conveniently compartmentalized over the previous two years—all existed within the confines of my house.
