Team Coaching & Development

High-performing teams don’t happen by accident.

Teams are fundamental to organizational performance, yet teams often end up as a collection of individuals with individual accountability rather than being cohesive and high performing.

Getting to high performance requires identifying how the team needs to work in practice. Team coaching enables a team to adopt the practices and behaviors that enable the sum to be far more than the parts.

Benefits of team coaching

Team coaching provides the structure, support, and empowerment that allows teams to learn, practice, and integrate new behavior. Coaching works because it actively, intentionally, and consciously helps teams and team members integrate new practices over time. Benefits include:

Greater trust

Focus on results

Positive accountability

Improved conflict management

Stronger commitment

Individual and group development

A team coaching engagement

Team coaching involves a skilled leadership coach working with a group of executives or managers. This type of engagement may involve several components delivered over months, depending on the goals of the team, feedback from the team leader, and organizational context. For example, a team coaching engagement may include:

  • Individual interviews with team members
  • 2-4 team meeting observations
  • Advisory calls with the team leader
  • 2-4 team development workshops (1/2 or full day)
  • Individual and team assessments

Nebo team coaches

Our team coaches excel in both individual and team coaching. They have been selected for additional qualities and experiences that make them highly effective team coaches. These attributes include:

  • Taking a whole systems approach
  • Having the courage to communicate honestly and directly
  • Being present and adaptive to the emerging needs of the team
  • Providing safety and structure for learning
  • Demonstrating the skills the team is working on

Getting real work done, better.

Team coaching gives team members the opportunity to grow together. And, by working with the team in the context of everyday challenges, the coach can introduce new ideas, practices, and behaviors, as well as identify opportunities to improve team performance.
